Single Touch Payroll (STP) legislation for small businesses
According to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), the Single Touch Payroll (STP) legislation has now passed and been extended to smaller businesses.
Effective 1 July 2019, all employers with 19 or less employees are now also required to submit payroll data to the ATO every pay run.
The ATO website stated:
"Different STP reporting options will be available by 1 July 2019 to help smaller employers. However, we won't force employers with 19 or less employees to purchase payroll software if they don’t currently use it."
