NDIS to spark multi-billion dollar jobs boom in Victoria
The introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) could significantly increase Victoria’s disability sector workforce by inducting thousands of carers into the disability sector. According to a research commissioned by National Disability Services, the NDIS could generate more than $5B in state revenue.

NDIS a jobs ‘boom’ for South Australia
New research released by National Disability Services (NDS) suggests that the NDIS will herald a growth phase in employment within the disability sector. According the Disabilities Minister Leesa Vlahos, the employment boost will “inject about $1.4B into the local economy each year.”

New Workforce Strategy prepares Qld for NDIS jobs boom
Disability Services Minister Coralee O’Rourke has announced the launch of the NDIS NGO Workforce Strategy – WorkAbility Queensland: Building tomorrow’s NDIS workforce to help strengthen the sectors’ workforce ahead of the NDIS. The Queensland disability workforce is projected to grow by nearly 13,000.

NDIS will pay for itself: new analysis forecasts huge jobs growth
New research modelled by economist Brendan Long from Charles Sturt University forecasts that the NDIS will trigger a jobs boom in NSW. The analysis predicts that more than 23,000 people with a disability and their carers will be likely to enter the state’s disability job market when the NDIS is fully implemented. The employment boom is predicted to generate up to $7B into the NSW economy.

Research to help people prepare for National Disability Insurance Scheme
The transition into the NDIS can be daunting. Master of Arts student Valmae Rose, who previously worked as the manager of NDS Queensland, is investigating how the community can adjust the way it views people with disability. The research project will include a series of workshops with NDIS stakeholders and the finding will be used to help prepare both individuals and service providers prepare for NDIS implementation.

Territory disability services receive much needed boost
Carpentaria Disability Services will receive $10M to assist in the building of the Community 360 Top End Community Hub. This is part of the Northern Territory Government’s $100M ‘Boosting our Economy’ package. The Community 360 Hub is designed to provide community, education and training, allied health, and direct services all in one space. It will create more integrated community services and develop a more innovative, flexible and skilled workforce to meet the challenging demands and changing opportunities in the disability services marketplace.
