Medical experts sought for review of Catastrophic Injuries Support Scheme

Alongside the NDIS, the Catastrophic Injuries Support Scheme (CIIS) plays a critical part in delivering nationally-consistent support for people who are catastrophically injured in motor vehicle accidents and need for lifetime care and support. CIIS provides necessary and reasonable treatment, care and support for people who sustain an eligible spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputations, burns or permanent blindness from a motor vehicle crash in Western Australia.

NDS in WA is working closely with the Insurance Commission of WA (ICWA) and the State Government to implement the most effective model possible for Western Australians.

ICWA is seeking expressions of interest from medical specialists and allied health professionals to perform expert review panel roles as medical experts, convenor and deputy convenor.

Expert review panels will be convened to resolve disputes about medical eligibility for participation in the scheme and any disputes about the treatment, care and support needs of participants.
