Complex Support Needs Planning Resources

The Intellectual Disability Behaviour Support program at University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney has just released a new planning guide for use by or with people with cognitive disability and complex support needs. This guide will help people map out their goals and work through the process of achieving them.

The guide includes a four-stage planning process, as well as an additional 'Supporters Guide' for the family, carers, support workers and advocates.

The development of the guide was funded by NSW Family and Community Services. The guide is called: “Living the life I want: a guide to planning” and is available for free download from the UNSW Sydney website.

A Planning Resource Kit for workers who are in planning or related roles (e.g. case workers, service coordinators), and engage with people with complex support needs can also be downloaded for free from the website. The kit is called "Being a planner with a person with disability and complex support needs", and is designed as a supplementary planning resource.
