Change to Behaviour Support Plan authorisation periods and Occupational Violence Seminar announced
What you need to know
- Changes put in place in at the start of the pandemic in relation to Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) authorisation timelines will cease at the end of October 2022
- BSP authorisation timelines of not more than 6 months for Interim Behaviour Support Plans will be in place from 31 October 2022
- BSP authorisation timelines of not more than 12 months for Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans will be in place from 31 October 2022
Behaviour Support Plan Authorisation
The Office of the Senior Practitioner in Victoria has announced that in line with their safeguarding responsibilities they will reinstate previous authorisation times for Behaviour Support Plans.This means that authorisation timelines of not more than 6 months for Interim Behaviour Support Plans and 12 months for Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans will come into effect on the 31 October 2022.
There may be exceptions to this if the Victorian Senior Practitioner feels the nature of the restrictions require a shorter time frame for review. For more please see the information sheet [PDF] released from the Senior Practitioner.
Addressing Occupational Violence: Keeping everyone safe
Over the next 12 months NDS is undertaking a project in Victoria to address Occupational Violence in the disability sector. We will be undertaking a range of engagement activities including through communities of practice and network meetings, events and sharing of resources.
We are pleased to announce the first seminar to be held on 23 November 2022. This interactive seminar will hear from leaders in the sector to explore issues and actions to understand and address occupational violence in the disability sector.
